About the Game: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an open world action-adventure video game based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, and is the sequel to 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. It was developed by Beenox and published by Activision. It is loosely based on the 2014 film of the same name.

It was released on April 29 in North America and May 2 in Europe for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox 360. The Xbox One version was released alongside the other platforms digitally while the release of physical copies was delayed by two weeks.Gameloft also released a mobile version on April 17 for iOS and Android devices as a paid game. The game was also localized in Japan as a Sony-exclusive title. This was the final Spider-Man game published by Activision before Insomniac Games took on the Marvel license and developed the 2018 video game Marvel's Spider-Man.

The combat is similar to the Batman games, where you just mash one button to relentlessly hit the enemies. There is a button that you push whenever an enemy around you is about to attack (indicated by red markings above him) and you dish out a quick response. There is not a lot here to do other than keep hitting the attack button, which keeps the combat fairly simple and straightforward. Occasionally you will come across some boss fights, which are a combination of hitting the attack button mixed with some quick-time events. Again, fairly simple and straightforward affair.

Players assume the role of a Summoner, tasked by The Collector to build a team of Marvel heroes and villains and pit them against one another in combat. Gameplay is similar to that of Injustice: Gods Among Us and Mortal Kombat X, where the game's fighting arena is rendered in 3D with a 2D plane for the superheroes' movements and actions. New players begin with access to two 1-star characters, and can work to access additional characters including Iron Man, Thor, Black Bolt, Hulk, Storm, Ultron, Iron Fist, and Ronan. Gameplay features an energy system that limits the number of quest-based battles in which players can compete. Controls are designed for touch, rather than adapting buttons or virtual joysticks. Gameplay includes light, medium, and heavy attack options, as well as block and dodge. Well for them, Tencent seems to have made the helicopters rather vulnerable, and can easily be taken down. The Chinese beta also seems to have the BRDM amphibious vehicle. And besides the guns already mentioned there seems to be a new homing missile launcher as well. In the newest video, Mr Ghost Gaming shows that we may not be getting any new weapons.

We've also had freezes where the game is unresponsive. Often it's just a pause that lasts about 3 seconds. There is a ping monitor on the display and sometimes you'll see a pause in the game followed by the ping rising sharply, which could be down to the home Wi-Fi network demands. Typically the game runs smoothly with a reported 32ms average ping on our network.
